What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of the oldest therapies known to humanity, originating in China nearly five thousand years ago. Acupuncture consists of piercing the skin at certain points with very thin needles that have a therapeutic response in the body. Traditional Chinese Medicine states that the life force in the body known as "Chi", controls the workings of the major organs and systems of the body. Chi circulates form one organ to another along pathways called meridians, and provide nourishment for the entire body. Energy constantly flows up and down these pathways. When the meridian becomes obstructed, deficient, excessive, or just unbalanced, the flow of Chi cannot properly nourish the body, this is when illness can occur.
Acupuncture sets out to correct any imbalance that is in the body, restoring harmony and balance, thus eliminating factors that cause illness. Acupuncture offers a safe, natural, and effective way to treat many conditions.
